The P&C has developed a strategy for 2020 that provides a framework for how we are going to support the school community during the COVID-19 outbreak, as well as outlining how we are going to approach funding the different needs of our school.
- We will defer large group activities until term four. We will plan a significant social event in term four to bring people together and boost morale following the winter period, during which the potential impact of COVID-19 is expected to peak. We will also continue to explore an art auction fundraiser for term four.
- During terms two and three, we will explore ways in which we can support the families and school staff of our school community who face challenges as a result of COVID-19. Ideas that have been floated include preparing meals for families in need in the canteen, coordinating a ‘spare iPad drive’ for families in need of IT hardware to support home learning, and coordinating a donated goods effort, to assist families with items in short supply, such as toilet paper.
- We will consider the funding requests of the school Administration at the March meeting of the P&C Executive. In approving any expenditure, we will ensure that sufficient resources remain available to fund the social activity in term four and resource activities that support the school community during terms two and three.
- We will continue to progress funding applications for the Goonderup Renewal oval project, with a view to completely funding this project through grants and sponsorship over the next two years. Targeted funding sources will include the State Government, City of Vincent, Bendigo Bank and other corporate sponsors, as well as both major parties in the leadup to the state election.
- The Grounds Committee will work with the Administration and Board to develop a long list of desired minor grounds improvements. This long list will be put to the school community in an online survey and prioritised as a result. Future fundraising activities will be directed towards implementing this list of priorities, as well as the future funding asks of the school Administration.
- We will utilise online technologies that will enable the P&C to continue to meet while social distancing measures are in place. We will keep the school community updated on the delivery of this strategy through our website, email newsletter and Facebook. We will continue to fill vacant P&C positions, so that we are positioned for a pickup in activity in term four.
